Southern Indiana wine trail creates "Summer Wine Down"

The Hoosier Wine Trail announces an August event "Summer Wine Down," celebrating the last weeks of summer vacation. They invite wine lovers to visit each of the eight participating Indiana wineries from August 3rd through Labor Day weekend. Those who complete the trail during event dates, receive an exclusive "Hoosier Wine Trail" t-shirt, plus the 19 oz. wine glass given to those who finish the trail anytime during 2013.

The Hoosier Wine Trail is Indiana's fourth trail featuring unique wineries located along and near I-64 in Southern Indiana, from Lynnville to Clarksville. Wineries on the trail from West to East include: Mystique Winery, Pepper's Ridge, Monkey Hollow, Blue Heron Vineyards, Scout Mountain, Indian Creek, River City and Chateau de Pique.

During the mid to latter part of August, many wineries will begin to crush and press their early grape harvest. This can be an opportunity to see first-hand the beginning stages of next year's wines.

You may pick up a wine trail card at any one of the wineries and tour them in any order. Most are open Wednesday through Sunday from noon to 6:00 pm. However, individual winery hours are posted at www.hoosierwinetrail.com or visit "Hoosier Wine Trail" on Facebook. PLEASE NOTE that our western wineries are on Central Standard Time while the eastern wineries are on Eastern Standard Time.
