Viticulture

The Viticulture group is based in the Horticulture Department at Purdue University. The activities of the viticulture program includes research, extension, and teaching activities such as:

  • Research vineyards throughout the state at Purdue Agricultural Centers and commercial vineyards
  • Evaluation of cultivars for disease resistance, cold hardiness, and wine quality
  • Advise existing and potential growers on all aspects of grape production
  • Conducting statewide workshops
  • Collaborating with colleagues in region to host Heartland Grape and Wine Schools
  • Teaching upper level undergraduate course in viticulture and small fruit crops
  • Directing and advising graduate student projects in viticulture
