The Viticulture group is based in the Horticulture Department at Purdue University. The activities of the viticulture program includes research, extension, and teaching activities such as:
- Research vineyards throughout the state at Purdue Agricultural Centers and commercial vineyards
- Evaluation of cultivars for disease resistance, cold hardiness, and wine quality
- Advise existing and potential growers on all aspects of grape production
- Conducting statewide workshops
- Collaborating with colleagues in region to host Heartland Grape and Wine Schools

- Teaching upper level undergraduate course in viticulture and small fruit crops
- Directing and advising graduate student projects in viticulture
