Mallow Run Winery makes donation to St. Vincent Foundation.

Bargersville, IN - Mallow Run Winery near Bargersville, Indiana, has selected the St. Vincent Foundation to receive its first donation of $5,000 from proceeds of its two PINK wines.

In July of 2009, Mallow Run released two rosé wines with the intention of donating a portion of the proceeds from these wines to benefit breast cancer research and awareness. "After six months, we are half-way to our goal of raising $10,000 for breast cancer awareness," said Laura Richardson, one of the owners of Mallow Run and also a part-time employee of the St. Vincent health system. "I'm honored to be associated with an organization that is focused on healing the bodies, minds and spirits of those in need. I witness the values of the people at St. Vincent, and I think it?s that caring approach that makes St. Vincent special."

With one dry rosé, and one semi-sweet rosé, there?s a PINK wine for every taste. Rosé wines are lightly colored pink wines made from red grape varieties. Red wines extract red color during fermentation with the red grape skins. Rose wines have little or no skin contact and so contain much less of the red pigments. The dry version of PINK is a rose of Zinfandel grapes with aromas of strawberry and notes of red berry and pink grapefruit. The semi-sweet version is made from Syrah grapes and is loaded with strawberry and melon flavors. Both wines retail at the winery for $12.95.

The St. Vincent Foundation was selected to receive a $5,000 donation based on work focusing on breast cancer research, awareness, and healing through such projects as The Weekend to End Breast Cancer, as well as its overall mission of providing care to patients regardless of financial status. The Foundation also provides support and grants to fund a wide range of hospital-related initiatives, all focused on helping those in need.

Laura's husband Bill Richardson said this is a cause that hits close to home. Mallow Run has employees, friends, and family that have been affected by breast cancer. This is something that we're passionate about and want to do something to help make a difference.

Mallow Run's PINK wines are still available in the Bargersville tasting room and there are plans for another $5,000 donation in the near future.
