Carpenter Creek Cellars, the newest winery in Indiana, opened on March 23, 2013. Celebrating the unique nature of the Indiana wine industry, Carpenter Creek holds shop in a beautifully-restored 1919 Hoosier horse barn located at 11144 Jordan Road, between the towns of Remington and Rensselaer, IN. Carpenter Creek has been a two-year project. Opening with six wines ranging from dry to sweet, the production team strives to produce high-quality wine from fruit sourced from around the Midwest. "We don't want to be a California winery," said Randy Rottler, head winemaker. "We are in Indiana, and we want to give our customers a taste of Midwestern fruit at its best." Randy, Ed Courtright (vineyard manager), and Joe McKinney (head of business operations; production assistant) plan on utilizing vineyards in Michigan, Indiana, and Missouri, as well as their own vineyard plantings, to produce unique Midwestern wines, bringing the excitement of wine tourism to Jasper County. Carpenter Creek Cellars is open Monday through Saturday (11am to 7pm Eastern) and Sunday (12pm to 5pm Eastern). The tasting room offers free tastings of their wines, with two dry, one semi-dry, and three semi-sweet wines. Feel free to stop by and enjoy a unique Hoosier wine experience.
