Wine Trail features Valentines Day romance

INDIANAPOLIS - Seven central Indiana wineries will be featuring wines and desserts perfect for your Valentine's Day celebration during February. The Valentine's Day Celebration will take place February 10, 11 and 14, 2007 at the participating wineries. Customers can visit each winery during their regular business hours to enjoy special desserts prepared to pair with wines perfect for the romantic holiday.

Participating wineries include Buck Creek Winery (Indianapolis), Chateau Thomas Winery (Plainfield), Easley Winery (Indianapolis), Ferrin's Fruit Winery (Carmel), Grape Inspirations Winery ( Carmel ), Mallow Run Winery (Bargersville), and Simmons Winery (Columbus).

Mallow Run Winery will be serving their Blackberry wine paired with Flourless Chocolate Torte. Simmons Winery will showcase a gourmet chocolate dessert paired with their Autumn Rose wine. Ferrin's Fruit Winery will feature their popular Checkered Flag Chocolate wine paired with New York Style Cheesecake. Grape Inspirations Winery will have a Dark Chocolate Fountain with fruit and pretzels paired with their Old Vine Zinfandel. Buck Creek Winery will have a White Chocolate Fountain with fruit and their Dew Drop Sweet Wine. Easley Winery will showcase Raspberry Chocolate Truffles with Indiana Champagne. Chateau Thomas Winery will feature Espresso brownies pairs with their Tannet wine.

Designated drivers to each winery will also be able to sample free gourmet flavored coffee, donated by the South Bend Chocolate Factory.

"The Indy Wine Trail is excited to showcase fantastic wine with tasty desserts, perfect for Valentine's Day," said Meredith Easley, co-owner of Easley Winery. "We are also excited to include South Bend Chocolate Factory's wonderful coffee in our wineries and we know all of our customers will enjoy trying everything the Wine Trail has to offer."

Special wine pricing is available during the Valentine's Day event. There is no charge for the desserts or wine tastings.

Currently, the Indy Wine Trail is featuring a passport program where visitors receive a free wine glass after visiting all seven wineries.

For those traveling the trail, the participating wineries will offer suggestions for overnight accommodations and meals. Since the trail includes visits to seven wineries, everyone is encouraged to designate a driver and drink responsibly.
