To all Wine & Music Lovers,
We are happy to announce that Mallow Run will be hosting the Carmel Symphony Orchestra for an outdoor pops concert on Saturday, July 5th at 7:00pm. This concert will benefit the Education Fund at the Johnson County Museum of History.
We will have a large stage on the lawn, at the west end, away from the new parking lot with ample room to spread your chairs or blankets on the hill. You are welcome to bring your own picnic, but we will have food vendors if you prefer to pick up something here. Wine will be available by the glass or bottle, but wine tasting will end at 6pm. Parking, as always, will be an issue, so we encourage you to carpool (It saves gas, too!).
Tickets are on sale now, $15 in advance, and $20 at the "gate." Tickets may be purchased by cash or check at all Heartland Community Bank branches, the CVS/pharmacy location at SR 135 & Smith Valley Road, or at the winery. To pay be credit card, please stop by or call the winery (317-422-1556).
A little history and connection.
Why the Carmel Symphony?
The winery is owned by John Richardson and Bill & Laura Richardson. Bill, after an eight year break from playing horn (French Horn), decided to sit in on some Carmel Symphony Orchestra (CSO) rehearsals "just for fun" in 2002. Somehow, he became a regular and played his first concert July 4th of that year. The following year, the CSO was in need of a substitute clarinet player for the July 4th concert, and so Laura Emerson sat in. Bill shared his bottle of Traminette with this new clarinet player, and the rest is history. They got married in 2005.
Sponsors
Special thanks to our major sponsors who are making this concert possible.
Heartland Community Bank - We bank with them, we trust them, we recommend them.
Duke Homes/Welbourne Companies - Mike Duke and company remodeled John's house, remodeled Bill's house...twice, did work on the old barn that is the tasting room, and built the new production building.
We are proud to consider these companies and the people that run them friends.
Thanks to both of them for supporting the arts in this community.
The Carmel Symphony Orchestra (CSO) is under the direction of Music Director, David Bowden of Bloomington. Founded in 1976 as a volunteer community orchestra, the CSO is a "family-friendly" orchestra (families with young children are encouraged to attend), presenting six annual subscription concerts, each programmed to provide an eclectic mix of classics and pops repertoire. Concerts are presented at area high schools and churches. In addition, the CSO offers an educational concert for elementary students, presents a free outdoor concert for several thousand area residents annually on the Fourth of July, performs at the Penrod Arts Fair, and this year will be performing at Mallow Run Winery.
We hope you are as excited about this event as we are, and hope to see you there.
