Public encouraged to attend, and sample, largest international wine competition

WEST LAFAYETTE, Ind. - Winemakers from around the world will send their best wines to Indiana for the Indy International Wine Competition June 26-28th, 2008. And now consumers will have the opportunity to taste medal winning wines during the event!

Over 3,200 wines from 17 countries were judged at Indy last year, making it one of the largest international wine competitions in the . Seventy-five wine judges will travel to Indianapolis from throughout the , Europe and to taste, analyze and score the various wines. The public is encouraged to attend and listen to a panel of judges discuss what makes a gold-medal wine.

Visitors are encouraged to attend from 9-11am and1-3pm on June 26th and 27th at the Blue Ribbon Pavilion at the Indiana State Fairgrounds. ID's will be checked. Visitors will proceed throughout the competition, learning about the history of the Indy International, listen to a panel of wine judges discuss their scores and visit the back room where nearly 10,000 wine bottles await their judgment! Visitors who are 21 years and older will have the chance to taste two medal winning wines before they leave. There is no cost to participate.
