Monday, September 22, 2008

INDIANAPOLIS - Seven central Indiana wineries will be featuring wines and chili perfect for your fall celebrations during a weekend long event in October. The Chili Cook-Off Weekend will take place October 18-19, 2008 at the participating wineries.

Participating wineries include Buck Creek Winery (Indianapolis), Chateau Thomas Winery (Plainfield), Easley Winery (Indianapolis), Ferrin's Fruit Winery (Carmel), Grape Inspirations Winery ( Carmel ), Mallow Run Winery (Bargersville), and Simmons Winery (Columbus).

Customers can visit each winery from 12PM-6PM during the event to enjoy different chili and then vote on their favorite! Each winery will also offer free items that go into the chili making process. When customers visit the wineries and judge the chili, they will receive the following items: Mallow Run Winery will be giving away Red Gold tomatoes, Easley Winery will feature Hurst beans, Simmons Winery will feature Onions and Spices, Ferrin's Fruit Winery will give away spoons, Grape Inspirations Winery will have salsa, Buck Creek Winery will give away hot sauce and Chateau Thomas Winery will give away pasta.

Designated drivers to each winery will also be able to enjoy the food and sides and soda.

"When people think about fall, they think about chili," said Jeff Durm, co-owner of Buck Creek Winery and president of the Indy Wine Trail. "The Indy Wine Trail is excited to showcase our favorite chili and let visitors decide which one of us makes the best pot of chili!"

Adult tickets are $20 in advance and $25 the day of the event. Tickets can be purchased at the Indy Wine Trail wineries.

Currently, the Indy Wine Trail is featuring a passport program where visitors receive a free wine glass after visiting all seven wineries.

For those traveling the trail, the participating wineries will offer suggestions for overnight accommodations and meals. Since the trail includes visits to seven wineries, everyone is encouraged to designate a driver and drink responsibly.
